My brother told me the CEL on his 2009 Cobalt SS turbo started flashing at him the other day while he was driving. He said he felt no hesitation or power loss. He checked the codes in the Torque app and said there were something like 135 misfire counts on all 4 cylinders and apparently even a cylinder 5 misfire code. Ehh? Random computer freakout or something else? He cleared the codes and ran it again for the rest of the day and no new misfire codes came back

Could be a data error on the app. Would need to know if he's changed plugs recently and things of that nature. Quite a few Cobalt guys with the Interceptor gauge get those codes for cylinders 5+ too, but nothing to worry about.

He's running a smaller gap on the high-end Iridium plugs than standard since he believes he was having spark blowout problems due to higher than stock boost (21psi vs 15). Maybe he's got carbon buildup on the valves?

The turbo Cobalts have oil coking/carbon issues. Tell him to check that.
