businesses charging extra sales tax?

Somewhere in my Facebook archives I have a picture of a receipt from the Subway near my office with over a dozen possible State/city/other taxes, IIRC. Not all of them were charged but each item had a separate line on the receipt. If I can find it, I'll post it.

I usually try to avoid buying anything in municipalities that charge their own sales tax. Not always possible, but I do my best to keep my money in my pocket.

Ironically, when one of the local small towns decided to start charging a 1% sales tax, quite a few people I know said the town really needed it and that 1% really wouldn't hurt anyone. These are the same folks who think the federal government is trying to tax them out of existence and throw a fit around tax time about how much they are giving the IRS.
