Difference between Vovo Gear lube and Amsoil.

Is there a difference between Amsoil Gear Lube and Volvo Gear lube?

I put Amsoil in my sterndrive last time. Gear case seems more smooth then regular 80w90 industriel gear lube that boat dealer put in.

Is it true that volvo gear lube is the same as Amsoil ?

They should be equivalent. Given that Walmart sells Mercruiser gear lube I would just buy that. Amsoil is a high quality product, but its a hassle to buy, pay for shipping, etc.

I have twin sterndrive, I prefer Amsoil but at home I have enough Volvo gear lube for 1 sterndrive, and enough Amsoil oïl for the other sterndrive.

I wouldn't run anything in it other than Volvo stuff. Having the clutch cone glaze over isn't something to mess with. This is the only Volvo product I run in my boat. Everything else is aftermarket.
