It's getting really hard to get good spin-on filters for the old VW Diesels here in eastern Canada. I've always used Mann filters because of the heavier steel in the can. Does anyone else make a filter of this quality for these engines?

Fram Orange Can PH3569 & Wix 51191 fit it, both are available on Rock Auto (if they have Rock Auto in Canada).
Sorry, but as I said elsewhere, this engine has blown a Fram can. I'll never trust one again.

Aren't MANN filters made by Purolator? If so then they'd likely blow out on any engine as well. Well, internally.
Mann filters made for German vehicles are usually constructed much differently, I believe you can decipher the part number and know, iirc the part numbers with M are the ones to avoid, I'm sure someone else knows for sure.
