Anyone ever used Rislone that is blue in color. I used it a few times at oil change time on an older engine that was noisy and suspected of being internally dirty, but I can't say it did anything special.

In my completely non-scientific thinking it HAD to be a good product because it was BLUE in color!!

Any opinion on this?

Here is a quote from member Molakule re: the 32 ounce Rislone product:

It turns out to be about a 10W20:
Rislone Engine Treatment from quart bottle (32 oz.) version.
Physical Tests:
Viscosity (cSt 40C) 43.0
Viscosity (cSt 100C) 8.0
Additives (ppm):
Magnesium (Mg) 3
Calcium (Ca) 1935
Phosphorus (P) 422
Zinc (Zn) 503
Boron (B) 8

TMP Ester 11% by weight.

The amount of ZDDP is at a level to supplant the MO's ZDDP when this stuff is added.

My brothers used it a lot in his old Ford many years back. He used it just about every oil change didn't help reduce deposits (with reasonable OCI) when we changed the valve cover gasket at 190k miles there was noticable build up. It wasn't horrible but I know he had to use 40+ bottles over the 190k miles.

I don't think it's bad but I dont think it does much. He used it a lot and it didn't seem to help.

I have used it to unstick a noisy lifter in my Chrysler Mini van. It worked Ok. Not a heavy duty cleaner though.
