Buying oil at a flea market, there's a stellar idea.

From what I understand the oil met with all the certs and approvals for counterfeit
engines

I was going to point out that it happens here too. Not just engine oil either, tractor fluids, ATF, aftermarket 'additives', you name it. Take a look at some of PQIA's findings.
 
So it's ok when companies do this. But if citizens do this it's a problem.

That's the take-away I got from the story you provided.

Makes you wonder if a lot of auto shops just put in El-Cheapo Brand 10w-30 in everything when they tell you its Pennzoil, for example.

I'll be checking my bottles from now on.
