I've heard good things about Duralast Max, but a lot of Autozone's(and many more) friction is made in China or India. TRW is an OEM supplier to VAG, but it might be different than the OEM friction installed at the factory. Do you have a parts house nearby that can get you OEM-supplier(TRW/Textar/Pagid/Jurid) or Wagner/Bosch pads?

So Autozone has two options:

1. TRW Premium Pads/Brake Pads http://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-tract.../?checkfit=true

2. Duralast Max/Brake Pads http://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-tract.../?checkfit=true

Which one of those would you guys recommend? Both have almost identical descriptions and no reviews on their site.

Thanks.

NAPA can get an awful lot in a day. Wagner TQ?

Hope you have a garage.

Duralast Gold and cmax pads are a very good and advertised as vehicle specific friction ratings. I've installed countless sets for customers without a single complaint.

Do you know about friction ratings? Make sure if you buy something in store it's no less than FF which is the standard in pads these days. You may be able to find a GG pad like Wagner thermo quiet. Anything DD,EE,EF,FE she be avoided. If you can't see a friction rating anywhere on the pad itself or the backing plate run fast from that part.

I am loving my Wearever Platinum ceramics from advance they are FF and lower dusting. Most of the top pads at parts store are FF or better.

I have Duralast Gold Rotors and cmax pads on the Grand Prix and Trans Am. I have been really happy with them. No issues, they are quiet, stop nice, smoothly and both sets have seen some 1/4 mile track time. Actually the Trans Am has seen a bunch.

That fiction codecould even be found on the edge of the pad. They don't advertise it being there, but that is what I would go with.

+1 They are GG rated too. Those are my next pads now Bendix CT-3 has gone Chicom. Their high carbon rotors are really nice, Made in UK and you can tell the difference in quality from the Chicom stuff.

These centrics for my camry were only $13 + 5 shipping from rockauto. They do great except for pedal feel but I think that's not the pads' fault.

You can see the GG rating. The 103 prefix is, IIRC, the model line.

I've used Centrex calipers and rotors and find nothing wrong with them but I stick to EBC pads. They do have good bite.

Is this for your A6?

I would get OE from the dealer, you can usually get 20% off without too much trouble.

Otherwise, I would get Jurid or Textar from worldpac. I believe NAPA can sometimes get Textar thru their Altrom line. I would avoid the other choices that are being suggested.

Euro cars really need OE or an OES pad if you want to maintain the same performance, pedal feel and NVH characteristics.

If you're considering Duralast Gold, I'd recommend not using them. I've put 5 sets on my mom's Buick Rendezvous. There's no excuse for 10k miles out of a set of brake pads. I only keep using them because they have a lifetime warranty.
