Hey guys. I hope everyone had a good Christmas. I was looking at my stationary pump and it looks like the water pump seal is leaking. But when I pressurize the system to 16 PSI I don't lose any pressure. It clearly looks like it's weeping from the gasket. Should I just put a new seal on the water pump? I think it's leaking about half an ounce to one ounce a day. It's really bugging me cause it leaks all the way down the front timing cover and makes an ugly mess.

It's a John Deere 4024T281 engine if it matters. 4 Cyl 2.4L.

Edit. It's the original gasket. New pump is ~$600. Only has 500 hours.

If its just the seal, yeah, I would put a new gasket on it and call it good. Inspect the sealing surfaces to make sure there isnt another reason for it to leak.

I'd pull it off and do a full inspection before you buy parts, just to be safe. I had one where I was sure it was just a gasket, but removal and inspection revealed leaking at the weep hole I couldn't see until I removed it.
