With Honda, most of the clutch slipping can be attributed to how weak the stock clutch springs are. Every dirt bike I raced had shimmed or after market springs even when the bike was brand new(this was back in the early 70's). But I've done the same thing to my late model crusier's and I just can't believe how weak the stock springs are.

I even did this on my '03 R6 when the clutch started to slip in the higher gears, clutch was good but the six springs were weak. Didn't have money for new srpings so I shimmed them around 0.045 and that clutch still hooks up nice and tight today.

Still, torque capacity is proportional to the clamping force and coefficient of friction.

More clamping can make up for a lower co-efficienct of friction, but the best bet is not to degrade the friction in the first place...for any given set of clutch springs.

Would be silly to upgrade springs to counteract an FM/EC oil.
