Hey guys, new here just thought I'd ask about a problem I've been having for a few months now. I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado 2500 with the 6.0 and 4l80e, and for the past couple months I get a whining noise starting around 2200rpms that's gets louder with engine speed. I thought it was the transmission whining, so I checked the fluid and it looked good. I dropped the pan over the weekend to do a filter change and there wasn't any metal in the pan and the fluid looked real clean. It is possible for the accessory drive on the motor to make that type of noise? It makes it in all gears and when revving it in neutral when at a stop. Also it shifts fine , except for an occasional harsh shift that's happened twice in the past two months. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That's what I'm thinking. It could be a belt as well. Diagnosing noise without hearing it is always tough.
