Helpful hint:

Years ago, I put up a flag pole / 20 ft. tall.
It uses 3' x 5' flags @ $20. each (Nylon with sewn strips)

I put a new flag up in April and take it down in November.
That's 6 Months of continuous exposure to the wind.
Yea, I know you should take it down at night, but I want simplicity.
After 6 Months of flying, the flag was showing a lot of tears, mostly at the outer corners. So, I needed a new flag every year.

To get more life out of the flag, I bought some adhesive and put it where I anticipated the tearing to happen / Outer corners and between strips.

This has helped a lot.
I just took down my flag that has lasted 2 Seasons so far.

I used Loctite - Vinyl, Fabric & Plastic Flexible Adhesive.

The flag code states that nighttime display is fine if the flag is illuminated.
I certainly don't care if anybody leaves their own flag out in the dark, but they might have to watch out for those roving gangs of American Legion members driving around armed with eggs and TP.
;^)

Its nice someone even bothers to fly the flag these days. Some of these scumbags burn it or walk over it. I guess its to be expected when their elected reps do the same figuratively every day.

My flags look like they were on Fort McHenry after one year.

I keep them flying year around, lighted at night, replace yearly .

God Bless America and Merry Christmas.

I'm a 24x7 lighted at night guy myself. I believe mine last around 4-5 months on average, depending on the weather. I'll be trying the adhesive technique next time - thanks for the tips!
