Crimes against the elderly are heinous enough to incite the highest caliber of anger, but police say one group of Good Samaritans decided to act on their own when they witnessed a suspect steal a purse from an 84-year-old woman at a Walmart in Bellmead, Tex.

The victim was loading groceries into her car Monday when the suspect, 27-year-old Andre Dawson, snatched her purse, which was sitting in the grocery cart, according to Detective Kory Martin of the Bellmead Police Department.

Cellphone video shows a group of men chasing Dawson and holding him down, while a woman approached the scene with a gun drawn, pointing it toward him, ABC News station KXXV reported.

It's good to see others step in and help. That slime ball deserves some serious jail time for what he did.

And maybe Walmart can offer an escort service to the parking lot for senior citizens, that is if they can afford it. They could help with the shopping cart and the security.

I saw that this morning, the only problem I saw was the young lady firing a round into the air, not too smart in an urban area.

I commend them for getting involved .

Don't Mess with WalMart shoppers.

Great except the young ladhat fired shouldn't own a gun....more than stupid.

Great to see folks get involved. "When seconds count, police are minutes away"

Good for them!
Too bad for the perp.
He would have been long gone by the time the cops arrived.
Citizen action at its finest.
No, the woman should not have discharged her weapon, but that fortunately did no harm.

In Richmond Va we had a 7 yr old child killed when a round fired up into the air came down and hit that poor boy directly on top of his head. It was over the 4th of July when it happened. What goes up does come down.

She ruined what otherwise could have been a great story about responsible firearms use.

Not really, the firearm should never have come out.

Great that they caught him, but its not something to clear leather for. Firing in an urban area is generally a very bad idea, that lady should not have done that.
