Drilled and Slotted Rotors

These are better resurfaced by grinding instead of cutting. If they are chamfered holes then its no problem but straight cut holes can damage the cutter if the cut is too aggressive.

Chamfered holes generally indicate a higher quality rotors. The best ones to get are ones where the holes are part of the casting and then finish machined. A lot of the ones you see online are blank rotors with the holes drilled.

Would it be worthwhile to make a small chamfer first, then turn?

No, there is more to it than that. Straight drilled are the least expensive rotor and usually not worth resurfacing anyway, these are basically a for looks only rotor.
Properly done they can improve braking performance but they are not cheap and neither are the pads that work properly with them. The radius chamfer is usually down to the rotors min thickness.
Simply using a larger rotor and caliper bracket retrofit from another model with provide much greater performance gains, eg 2002 12" Impala front rotors on a 11" rotor W body with 2002 Camaro calipers makes a lot bigger difference than drilled/slotted 11" rotors.
