2003 E350 cargo side door latch-handle

The outside handle/latch does not work anymore. The door mechanism works fine from the inside. I see a cable with a ball on it attached to the outside latch itself, at a fork connection of sorts. The cable does not pull tight to the fork, so when I pull on the handle I only catch air.
Would a new cable resolve that?

8C2Z-15264A00-B is the "remote control system" which includes the latch and cables.

Sell a lot of both.

They fail all the time, some of the handles require drilling the rivets out, I did the back door assembly the one that holds the license plate, changed all the cables on my van, the side door should be a little easier, a coworker replaced his and said it was easy. just go to the dealer and tell them what you need.

Probably just the cables.
Had this little problem with our old '94 E350.
A complete cable set is around $45.00 on Rock.
Don't know what a dealer would charge for these pieces.
