A 9-year-old student at a Hillsborough school in Tampa, Fla. has been threatened with sexual harassment charges after passing a love note to a fellow student.

Quote:
A 9-year-old Florida boy could face sexual harassment charges for penning love notes to a girl in his class, his furious mother said.

The tiny admirer gushed about his crush, telling her she's "pretty and cute" while boldly revealing his feelings for her in the handwritten loose-leaf letter, ABC Action News reported.

"I like you," the Tampa fourth grader in the Hillsborough County Public Schools district wrote inside a heart drawing. "I like your hair because it is not sloppy. I like your eyes because they sparkle like diamonds." The romantic proclamations landed the little boy in the principal's office, where school officials threatened they'd get authorities to slap him with sexual harassment charges, according to ABC.

They said his pining was inappropriate and came in several "unwanted" letters.

It also prompted other students to tease the young writer, saying he wanted to see the girl naked, though the notes never expressed any sexual intentions, the news station said.

"He's 9," said the boy's mother, who wasn't identified. "What little kid doesn't write love notes? My 9-year-old doesn't even know what sexual harassment means."

Hillsborough school district officials did not immediately return requests for comment Thursday.

Can a 9 year old be charged with a crime?
He didn't do anything 'wrong', per se, but if it happened previously and the girl complained, then he did it again and she complained again it would have put the teacher in a very awkward position - do nothing and open yourself up to accusations of neglecting to help a bully victim, or do something tht puts a child on the sex offenders register.

What a sad, strange state of affairs

If I were the parents of this boy I would contact the ACLJ and have them help her attack this PC stupidity.

That poor kid will be afraid to tell a girl he likes her again.
This whole story is so dumb I expected it to be satire.

It would be perfectly OK if he was passing that 'love note' to another boy in class.

Then the POTUS would take time out of his busy schedule on golf course to call the boy to say he's a remarkable kid. Then all the talk shows would be pandering this boy on TV, a movie would be made about the child's life....etc... Maybe invite the kid to rainbow theme party with some liberal Hollywood A list type folks so he can forget about that pesky JV Team causing trouble overseas.

He would be free to use the girls restroom and locker room too. Just no love notes to another girl in the class.

The world is becoming a ridiculous nightmare with things like this. Guess they better outlaw Valentine's Day in the schools now.

Do we have to ruin every thread around here? Why can't we just have an intelligent dialogue for once?

Typical liberal from white Phoenix, no less,
It's not "intelligent " if it's not in praise of Obama.

Not possible.

This is the Internet, after all.

Thank you liberal "progressives" for this insanity . Is this really what you represent?

Exactly!!!!!

Why on earth did the teacher send the little boy to the Principal's office? Ridiculous.

Also how did the news get a hold of this story, did the school call the media?
