No filter is going to enhance gas mileage on a stock engine, that's a myth.
Any of the major brands of "dry" filters will give good protection.
It's better to not change the filter too frequently. It becomes more efficient as it collects dirt.

You can just glance at the gauge when you open the hood to check the oil etc.
No need to open the housing until it's time to change the filter.
