It's the second time that the saginaw power steering pump shaft seal is leaking and I'm debating whether to swap in a junkyard unit or re-sleeve the pump shaft on my truck. Two years ago when I had the pump apart the seal area around the shaft looked polished shiny (no deep grooves or abnormal shaft wear) and left it as is. I'm hoping with the speedi-sleeve it will provide a rough surface to help seal the shaft and stop leaking.

Sleeve it. It's always fun to work on your own stuff. Besides you can then brag about how you fixed the leak on your pump.

Sleeve it, the hardened sleeve material will last a very long time. Use Loctite 620 to prevent leaks between the sleeve and shaft.
