I have a 1999 Volvo V70. Oil is 6.2 quarts with Mann filter. I had planned on doing a sample at 8K but neglected to check my level prior to the sample being taken. End result is I was 2qts down and had to top-off prior to changing my oil.

My question is that have I screwed the pooch by topping off? Will a 'clean' sample not be possible now? Now that I have two new quarts of M1 5-30 in there I plan on going to 10K then changing. Should I even bother with the sample at that point or just wait till the next oil change?

If it matters, the car has used synthetic its entire life.

Why would you want to do a uoa? Is there a suspected problem or just for curiosity?

Change at 10K and then do the UOA, you'll likely be just fine if you had to add two fresh quarts

I really just wanted to do it to get an idea of the engine condition. It runs great but with 291K on the clock I wanted an idea of how the internals were but if the two fresh quarts were going to skew the results I'll just wait to the change after this coming one.
