Stupid is as stupid does. We can thank all those stupid movies where the bad guy pours gasoline all over the place, then holds the good guy(s) at bay by lighting a match or a butane lighter while threatening the most dire consequences if they come any closer! Never does the whole place explode the instant he strikes the match or flicks his Bic. After a few hundred times of watching these movie acts played out with no explosive consequences, it is no wonder there our people who think that's the way the real world works.
