I have always been a huge college football fan. But it has been the sports tail wagging the academic dog. And in many schools basketball is just as bad or worse.
I truly wish there was no scholarships..period and no pay for play. And yes I realize that football pays all the sports bills. But if the scholarships went away a large cost would go away. Alumni could cough up $$$ for equipment facilities. For instance Terrence Pegula who owns the Buffalo Bills coughed up 100 million for a Penn State Ice Hockey Arena and a bunch more to support the program.

Athletes are always looking for a edge on competition.

Yeah. When I played the NCAA started to compile a list of IG sports supplements that were also banned. IIRC at the time the products gave a 'false positive' so naturally they had to be banned as well.
Methinks something smells a bit fishy.
