Are these Russians oil tests relevant?

These tests are even doubted in russian speaking forums as well.

Mainly because during these tests they just use excessive heat which is not seen during typical engine operations.

As Volodymyir already said those tests are completely irrelevant for engine oils. It has been discussed for number of times before.

On other hand if you look pattern of how this oils behave in extended high heat between same manufacturers you'll noticed that bottom end mineral oils like Mobil Super 1000 or BP Visco 15w40 fair well in this "test". Also on other end a high end oils like M1 also apparently do well.

It looks like that HC oils are most affected with this test.

I am guessing a North Korean report would show oil that would last forever and feature engines that showed no wear. Tested in Lil Kim's golf cart when he shot a perfect 18.

In fact, if you touch the subject of toilets, it looks like the only country capable of producing a toilet for International Space Station is Russia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_toilet . The one from NASA is going to be operational only in 2018 and is still in development.

But speaking seriously, doing any judgement based on country of origin is irrational. One may say that 3000 miles OCI intervals used in US are complete nonsense to people living in EU

Yeah, chief engineer for toilet at NASA was Wolowitz.

Relevant, It indicated a oil high temp. polymerization resistance and as oil are liquid a boiling point would be around 280'-320' C.

Speaking of temp, you can see edge of a piston reaching this temp. Or latest BMW 4.4. twin turbo, has a very high thermal design. testing it on bench is disastrous wire and plastic melting, need a significant cooling option; using bad oil in this engine would be catastrophic. Don't compare it to clunky Toyota - this one indifferent to any oil.

Good motor oils have high boiling temperature and poor one's low. The problem is, that poor oils starts to boil and evaporate at lower temerature & they almost never make sludge at this test. "Better oils" with higher eveporation temp start to make sludge & these tests show us nothing

"Good motor oils have high boiling temperature and poor one's low." - Really ????? I guess you don't get it, the test indicate how a chemical cocktail behave under stressful condition. Unfortunate oil-makers don't catch up a latest trend in engine construction trend follow up decades old requirements. An engine builders on the other side under ECO law press, HP competition market, forced to run engine parts in such extreme condition.

"Funny that eastern no name brands are better then top names....?"
here only one single parameter ( this parameter matter in some cases; and will matter at most when turbo will everywhere, seems GF-6 should nail it)
Take a pure base and it would be perfect in this case.

Shell Helix Ultra all bad results?! Even GTL. Isn't that the same a Penzoil PLatinum GTL? I liked a Dexos1 because I have a few in my stach. Motul 300V isn't that good??

That may be biased or what? ...

different oil formulation give a different result. Even more funny: you never know what exactly formulator mix today. Firm assumption a no difference between lot. but different between factory , region, year and so ... only plastic canister are the same, maybe ....
