Ok to flush cooling system with garden hose?

I flush with the garden hose, and let it drain out.
Then fill with coolant concentrate and distilled water.
Still shiny and clean inside after 20 years.

As far as I can remember, I have seen people use a garden hose. I just cant remember what they do with the water?

Flush three or four jugs of distilled water through the cooling system through the radiator and block drain/drains and fill with coolant of your choice.

I flush mine with garden hose, but then fill and drain with distilled before drain and fill with correct mixture of coolant and distilled water.

I just drained and refilled my car's cooling system with Dexcool and tap water. The tap water in Toronto contains about 1/2 gram of minerals per gallon. I can't see how this could be of any consequence.

I was a long time distilled guy. Recently my cars OMs have said clean and drinkable water. So I quit using distilled for the cooling system.

Never quite understood the change. Did the manufacturers just give up or did tap water become preferable?

I think the new OAT coolants use a different chemistry and are not bothered by minerals in tap water. Last a lot longer too!
