Gray Scale?

I was looking at the printing options on my Canon printer and see a "GREY" scale option. What is the advantage or disadvantage of this? Ed Hayes

its where you print colors as shades of gray instead.

even when printing an apparently black/white picture, coloured ink could be used.

I use gray scale printing whenever I don't need colour.

So that is why my color level goes down even when I almost never print anything in color. Ed

When you go into your printer properties, you can specify whether only black or also color ink should be used to print in gray scale.

There are times when you do want to use the color ink, just to use it up. If you don't use it for too long, it may dry up.
