A 15W40 with a lower VI would likely contain less VII,
have a higher HTHS, higher flash point and more shear
resistant for a given price point.

There is your triple protection.

Good report, what more can you ask for? Not much. 15/40 Looks like a solid choice for your bike.
Always make sure the oil is boiling hot when you take the sample. Im surprised the viscosity stayed in range though a 15/40 will hold up better then a 10/40, I still expected to see a bit more shear.

I assume you are enjoying the Bolt?

Glad it's boring. Haha. I did add an aftermarket air intake, and I'm guessing it solved the fuel problem. Still love my Bolt. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. I'm looking at buying a bigger bike in the spring since my wife has decided she loves to ride, but I'll be keeping my Bolt. I'll still use it to commute back and forth to work. I refilled this time with Rotella T5 15W40, and my shifting is buttery smooth. We'll see how it holds up on my next UOA.
