That is exactly what I have been advocating for the last 25 years. It would add up to $3-400 billion/year. And lower other taxes somewhat to make people able to swallow it.

No chance DC would lower any tax, they always dream of higher taxes/fees ...

You have the power to change that at election time, and the right to vote.

Last time I was in Europe (this spring) gas was $8/gal equivalent in Holland. Nearly that in Germany, etc. We're not even close to what we "could pay" and the pols know it.

Holland is the most congested traffic in Europe. Lots of folks commute to work. They have freeways and they get clogged at quitting time. They just don't have the same sun and beaches, or mountains

I have always suspected that the pols would get us to Euro prices eventually ...

The cost of the gas in europe is because the socialist zombies accept the taxes and the sad part is the socialist zombies in this country accept it.

California the land of earthquakes and idiots is the more modern slogan I am seeing on some web sites.

How about "state that pays out way more tax dollars than it collects", or "state the subsidized a bunch of red welfare states"? Seems more applicable to me.

Funny how a state that has a GDP in the top ten of countries world-wide, and grows a huge % of our national food supply, is met by comments about "wishing it breaks off from real 'Merika". Be careful what you wish for, geniuses.

I always point this to people. Alabama, Mississippi and others would be just bunch of third world countries without CA and other who pay (heck even Colorado on every $1 gets back like $.88).
When I lived in CA, I had to send all taxes to UT, even state taxes. Talking about welfare.

Then the extra money better pay for health care like it does in Europe...it better not be going into the pockets of oil co. execs, or politicians...
