Forgot to send Oil Analysis. Has it been too long?

I discovered an unsent oil sample in a sealed Blackstone bottle sitting on the workbench in the garage.

The sample was taken in December 2014, so it has been in the sealed bottle for about 9 months, albeit in the wild cold and the summer heat swings of a Midwest garage.

Question: Is the oil sample still valid for a Blackstone test?
Wondering about absorbing something out of the plastic of the bottle, or otherwise something I haven't thought of, skewing an analysis.

Thanks!

The current oil in the engine sump is different from the sample in the bottle.
Hence the reason to have the old sample analyzed if has not been changed by sitting around on the workbench too long.

What are you looking for or have an interest in being aware of??

If you're concerned about fuel dilution, I'd get a new sample. Those volatiles can flash and diffuse through the bottles in time. If it's wear metals, they won't change. Antifreeze, probably not. Condensed moisture, perhaps s but if we're curious about fractions of a percent.

Ed was on the right track.

"It should be just fine. We've received samples that are many years old.
Letting them sit doesn't hurt a thing, as long as the lid is on."

Sincerely,

Blackstone Labs
