Quick-lube drain plug torque

I think you guys need to exercise more or learn the nuances of removing bolts. I can't recall ever having that bad of a time removing drain plugs. Now oil filters on the other hand....

You have never had one cranked down with an impact wrench. I have had to take several off with a breaker bar. When my wife bought her Festiva, she had to take the drain plug off with a breaker bar, and we wound up having to cut the filter apart with a Dremel and use a hammer & punch to unscrew the plate. The quick-lube gorilla had CRANKED both down, to the point I am amazed that the drain plug didn't strip.

83,000 ft lb is what Jiffy Lube uses for sure.

Had a Buddy with a Duramax at Jiffy Lube.

They had the plug in so tight from the previous JL oil change that they could not get the drain-plug to budge and eventually rounded it off.

The friend called his welder over and he welded a huge bolt onto the existing one, and with a breaker bar got it out, sheese.
