When you wipe off the "black" you will take 1/100000 of an inch of copper off. Neutralize the polish when you're done via the instructions on the bottle. Or wash with soapy water.

Ok. Here goes. As per Wiki....soaked a Ping seven iron club head in a plastic cup of distilled white vineager and table salt. Maybe 10-20 minutes. Results are ok. Definitely shinier, but purple.. Not that orange I was wanting like in good electrical connectors, but maybe the alloy or concentration, etc is different.

Some Ping putters contain a berrylium-copper alloy. I wouldn't suggest this method for that alloy because of the danger from the dust created.

I hope it's a vintage putter. I can't imagine any modern putter made from this alloy.
