What do the members here use to protect the pump? last year I flushed the water out w/ rv type antifreeze and left it filled with same. I now see there's a B&S pump saver product. Is this any better the either rv or automotive af? Both these products do "lube" the water pumps.

RV anti-freeze is fine. The key is to get all the water out, and have it spitting anti-freeze when you pull the cord. I cap it off so it doesn't leak or run out.

I have used the pump saver for years with good results.
Easy to use and one can lasts several years.

I throw pump saver in after every use, since IDK when it will get used next. Mine has a really nice cat pump and i don't want to risk it. pump is work 4x the engine (HF clone).

RV antifreeze sounds like a good idea too, the pump saver has a more oily feel to it.

20+ year old generac brand unit here. Tecumseh ohh195 5.5hp and a cheapo pump.
Oil changed by fuel burn. Never used antifreeze. I store in basement, dry of fuel.
RV antifreeze would be my choice. All you need is freeze protection.

I also use the Briggs aerosol can of power washer pump winterizer/treatment, and have for years. A single can lasts forever and Ive never had a problem with my PW'ers. But, use whatever helps you sleep well at night.
