I'm looking to buy a 2009 Ford Everest (2.5 liter diesel in-line 4 cyl, RWD) and I wanted to look at the ATF condition. I've searched the engine bay and can't find the ATF dipstick! I've also scanned the Owner's manual and there is no mention there of how to check the ATF level. It does say to change the ATF every 50,000 km in severe driving conditions but every 240,000 km under normal conditions! Mercon V fluid was spec'ed as the replacement ATF. Also, is there a replaceable ATF external filter?

Addendum: The full size spare tire has never been used. Does anybody have a similar car model who can tell me if their rear tires wear faster than the fronts? Or the front tires wear faster than the rears? All 4 tires have similar remaining tread, that's because the owner rotated the tires regularly. I want to place the unused spare where wear is fastest.

See if there's a wide fitting in the transmission's pan.

I'm not at all sure of the name of the fitting but it's the one you need a 1/4" pipe nipple and pressure bottle to fill the trannie with.

Put the spare on a front wheel. Kira
