255/40/19 to 275/40/19

thinking about going from 255/40/19 to 275/40/19 on my 13 Mustang GT several people on the Mustang forums have gone to the larger size and they say the traction is much improved. My car has 3:73 gears so From what I read it will make little difference in the overall gearing with the taller tire esp considering this car with the optional 3:73 gears runs out of gear quite quick in first and second with the six speed manual. I would like some options from the people here on what the negatives would be going to the wider slightly taller size? By the way 275/40/19 seems to be the widest size Recommend to fit on the stock 9 inch wheels.

If others have done and no issues, id say try it out. Since ur in Mass..remember wider might be better traction on dry and rain but not winter. I assume ur gona store it during winter? Tires will cost more. Id make sure they dont rub the wheel wells.

Should be a good idea. You will get about another 3/4 of an inch of tread width and only take a 1-2 mph hit on the speedo, (Your actual speed will be slightly higher than speedo reading)...see here
