Your experience with ecotec engines

I have the 1.8L NA Opel/Holden/Saturn Astra. It's great ! Tight as a drum, handles well, easy of the fuel, I never need to top up the oil - just sits on the full mark all year.

GM Australia say run a ACEA A3/B3/B4 oil, and that's what I do.

SpazDog: "Pretty neat little European hatchback though."

My Cavalier has the 2.2 Ecotec (L61). It's been good to me. Still has plenty of power (for what it is) after all these miles (almost 219k). I bought it when it had around 34k miles. I used Castrol Syntec for around 120-130k miles and I think I use Pennzoil Ultra once, and have used Mobil1 for the last ~50k miles.
I get 25-27 mpg in the city, 29-30 mpg in mixed driving and 32-35 mpg on highway trips. In its old age it does consume a little oil on highway trips though.
I don't have any complaints about the engine. It seems to like the ACDelco/Hengst oil filters the best for what it's worth.
