I was referring to the Feb 14 2006 letter Thom wrote that is on the penultimate page of Zhang's presentation.

In that he said Valvoline supports the use of Maxlife in Mercon V applications and that it wouldn't void the manufacturer's warranty.

Yet Zhang admits it doesn't meet 2 performance requirements of Mercon V.

This is all in 2006. The letter in February, Zhang's presentation in July.

I think it's clear evidence that in this case Valvoline implies their fluid meets a standard while knowing full well that it doesn't.
 
OK, yea, I see your timeline and your point.

This would make an excellent inquiry to the tech people at Valvoline.
