As noted in my comments to Blackstone, this truck is primarily used around a farm. Many shorts trips, and a severe number of thermal cycles/cold starts for the mileage. Oil was changed per OLM "Change Engine Oil" message -- no DIC, so percentage is unknown.

In regards to observable performance, the engine has been quiet/smooth, pressure is right where it should be, and ZERO oil was added during the interval.

Thoughts? Looking through the forums, Castrol Edge seemingly does very well in Gen. III small-blocks. Make the change, or stick with this?

I'd keep doing what you're doing, maybe let it go a little further if you wanted. These engines are going to throw metal like this no matter what oil you use.

For the engine and service, I'd say the oil did good.

However, were it my truck, I'd go thicker...I think it might do a bit better in this severe service.
