wax/polish question

I was watching a video on YouTube on waxing/polishing a boat with gelcoat. They mentioned that the machine you use will heat up the wax enough to bond it to the boat's finish. I believe they were talking about a wax, not sealant. While I could see a machine possibly doing that I doubt one could do that with hand rubbing. While I think a machine could do a great job I am not sure I believe one needs to heat the wax to get it to bond with the boat's finish.
 
Not sure, but I do know some of the concourse car show guys would apply carnauba wax with their bare hands. Theory was that body temp heats up the wax and helps with the application...
 
Perhaps for that particular wax it was designed to be used that way. I would just ignore that unicorn c_m. It's clearly a way for them to sell you a tool.
 
No, there is no "bonding" of the wax to the gelcoat by way of heat. One just applies it, either by hand or by machine. The longevity of the wax will not vary according to how it was applied.
