There are some rare captured Mosins that were converted to shoot other ammo as well. There were 8mm Mauser Chambered Mosins in the service of Poland as a stopgap arm after WW1 until they got their mauser production ramped up.
Some of the guns I wish could talk are the interwar Czech guns. I have a BRNO 98/22 that like the Mosin in your post shows lots of external signs of being used all over Europe and the near/middle east, but had a pristine bore and still shoots like a champ. The walnut stock was BLACK with grime. When I cleaned it I found beautiful tiger striped figure on it. It is the smoothest full length Mauser 98 in my collection.
