All righty... I was wondering if the Carquest Wearever brake rotors are a solid product. I just had my rotors replaced on the Altima all around. Original rotors had 115k. I had Akebono street performance pads put on the front with Wagner thermoquiet pads put on the rear.
So I am really just wondering if the Carquest rotors are relatively worth a hoot?? I did some reading up on them and it seemed like they were OK. If I would have had more of a heads up I would asked ahead if time. But left rear brake started making a very noticeable grinding noise at 1am. So I had to get it fixed ASAP so not much lead time. Thanks a lot for insights

I appreciate everyone on here. I have learned some good stuff on here.

All you need are "good" rotors. Put the money into pads. Now I am not sure I would buy rotors that had "budget" or "value" in their name like "BudgetPlus" or "ValueCraft".

I can't speak for your CARQUEST rotors but I can tell you my experience with Akebono street performer brake pads. I have eaten through brake pads in less than 10,000 miles with Raybestos PG plus, Wagner, etc. I currently have Akebono ASP pads on the front and rear of my 2003 Honda CRV with over 30,000 miles on them. I looked at the pads today and they appear to still have about 50% life on them. I'm really hard on my brakes and these Akebonos hold up really well. No noise, fade, and they are really consistent. Akebono ASP, in my opinion, are the best pads around.

Running the Frontline rotors on my F150 right now. Probably around or just over 1,000 miles so far, with Thermoquiet pads. Absolutely loving it. Went with a severe service rotor since the OEM units had a recurrent vibration issue; hope it helps.

Those Wagners will make noise once they wear. Just about guaranteed. We've seen it a lot on the Wagner pads that use the built in shim.

You may be okay on the front with Akebonos, but if your tech did not reuse the two piece oem shim, you may experience some degree of noise. The Akebonos come with a layered metal shim, which is better than most, but still not quite ideal.

The rotors are probably okay but how the rotors were installed will determine the success or failure of the brake job.

I didn't index them but I did use a hub resurfacing kit along with a light touch of antisieze on the hub face before the rotors went on. Regreased the slide pins and even rubbed some moly paste on the brake pad ear sliders. I am hoping to avoid another premature replacement due to vibration.

As for the noise, thats interesting, I haven't heard that about the TQ's. Guess time will tell how they do.

Yeah Memphis 909 and Donald I thought the pads were a bigger concern too. That's why I thought the Akebono street performance on the fronts especially were the better way to go. I have learned on here that pads are more important than rotors.

Akebono seem to have quite a good reputation for the most part.

The last time I bought rotors from Carquest, they were relabeled Raybestos. They didn't warp, unlike the OEM MOPAR rotors on mom's 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I have to wonder if the new Wearever rotors are relabeled Raybostos, or if they are from some other company.

Have we really gotten this far, and some here are still writing about mythical rotor warping? Have you heard of pad imprinting? Poor brake break-in? The Article? Any of this sound familiar?

BTW OEM Mopar rotors were the only thing I could get for most of 2 decades and 2 Dakotas that weren't already eccentric. How they were mounted and how they were broken-in is out of Mopar's control.
