They make that filter for just two cars ?

I think I still have the one that came off my Volt earlier this year. I'll cut it open this weekend and see if there is anything visually unusual about it.

I replaced the PF65 with a Fram Ultra XG3387A which is used on a lot of other GM vehicles. The engine seems to be just fine following the change which was a little over 5000 (engine running) miles. About 50% of my miles are on gas and 50% on electric. Not that this indicates too much but the oil on the dipstick is still pretty golden in color.

Mahle's (people who actually make the PF65) do claim an extra-tough filter media, so I'd stick with using a PF65, or an all-synthetic media filter like a Fram Ultra, Royal Purple, or Amsoil Ea oil filter for long term endurance (like ~2 years service) in a Volt.
From Mahle website: "View product: OC 405/3

Spin-on oil filter
Superior filter media and its processing prevent decomposition and collapse of the filter under extreme conditions such as repeated cold start and high dirt load. Bypass and check valves assure constant oil supply at all times."
