I'm buying a Colt 1911 XSE so I'm wondering if there's a forum(s) that you might recommend that talk about 1911's ad nauseam like we talk about oil and stuff here at BITOG? If there's a forum you like that specifically talks Colt 1911 lingo, well hey...that would be a bonus!

There is also m1911.org.

Be sure to read the rules, run a foul of them or make claims you cannot back up and your banning will be swift, but there are a lot of knowledgable people there.

IMO the best 1911 forum is 1911forum.com

https://forums.1911forum.com/

Has been around 15+ years and I think the highest trafficked one as far as I know. Great knowledge, low [censored]. I think Wilson Combat bought it about 2 years ago, though it has not changed. The Colt sub-forum there is best place I know for Colt 1911 info.

+1, great site

My go to 1911 forum: https://forums.1911forum.com/

My go to Colt forum: http://www.coltforum.com

XSEs are nice, unfortunately Colt's discontinued them; of course they will be available new in gun stores for a bit...

I have two early XSEs (w/ 3-dot sights instead of Novaks), one in blue, one in stainless, full size (Gov't) in .45ACP. I just recently picked up an XSE 9mm full size when I heard they were being discontinued. The Combat Elite is a nice XSE based pistol too.

I googled "thin versus thick frame 1911", and got hundred of hits...yes, there's a BITOG for 1911.
