I have about 25k miles on my current Fram Tough Guard Air filter. I've considered buying a cleanable AEM dry flow filter as it would pay for itself after one clean.

I won't ever put a K&N oiled filter on my vehicles, but I hear the dry flow filters from AEM are more efficient at catching debris than oiled filters.

I've been using Fram TG air filters for a while on my vehicles. Would the AEM be as efficient as a Fram or Ac/delco replacement?

Yes, and I use AEM dry flow filters. But I wouldn't replace any of my TG'S with one. They're cheap enough and go long enough that I'd never justify it. I'm going 40k miles on one right now, and my filter minder (which is routinely tested) shows nothing at all.

Not that it's a bad idea or anything.

Yeah, with filter minder one can run standard filter upward 50-60k miles or longer.

I don't have filter minder on my cars, but I use pantyhose as pre-filter(clean or replace once a year) and keep paper filter for 50-60k miles, I change it out because of the rubber seal is getting hard and doesn't seal well.
