Google. There are a lot. AVG and Avast are ones that I have used.

AVG ...not sure how good it is cause I never got a virus using it and only saw it block a couple of times. Virus attachments are easier to avoid but my main fear is web based malware.

Add on a free disk imaging backup software. If you get a virus you can roll the clock backward to the previous day.

Avira Free is very good and light on hogging resources.

My last few years with XP I ran AVG with no issues. I also kept Malwarebytes loaded on it but had renamed it something else. In the past I had a virus that disabled Malwarebytes until I renamed it and then it ran fine.

I am surprised any company spends the time to support, test and develop for a an unsupported and insecure platform.

Maybe a few paying customers who hang onto the legacy platforms keeps there code base alive and updated.

Check with your internet provider also. Many have free licenses to mcafee or symantec antivrus.

I've used both AVG and Avast. I prefer AVG. Also use a paid copy of malwarebytes.

Unless you backup an infected image without knowing it yet. You will restore ian infected backup.

Just wipe it and reformat + re install. XP gets to pretty slow after about a year compared with a fresh install.

went one step further ...new PC and windows 7 ...xp went from bad to horrible ..
