AVG ...not sure how good it is cause I never got a virus using it and only saw it block a couple of times. Virus attachments are easier to avoid but my main fear is web based malware.
Add on a free disk imaging backup software. If you get a virus you can roll the clock backward to the previous day.
My last few years with XP I ran AVG with no issues. I also kept Malwarebytes loaded on it but had renamed it something else. In the past I had a virus that disabled Malwarebytes until I renamed it and then it ran fine.
