Car is being uswd in Ghana.

Temperatures are usually around the 80/90 oF range and lots of dust in the air.

I was gping to send over 10w40 Semi Synth or Full Synth of some description.

Possibly Maxlife.

Mileage is unknown as odometer broke 2yrs ago at 230k km.

Car probably covers 40/50k km a year.

And oil gets changed every couple of months.

Opinions welcomed.

Not sure how it compares to EU or US fuel to be honest.

But more often than not the vehicle is filled with Shell. There is V Power available bit not sure how that compares with EU V Power.

They also have some weird petrol stations.

Frimps Oil and G Oil are two that spring to mind.

Most manufacturers that sell new vehicles in Ghana have 10k km service intervals.

Though to be honest the engine really is the last thing to wear out!!

I just want to send over some servicing bits and pieces from the UK so that I can control quality.

The car is used as a Taxi.

Cold starts aren't an issue, but hot running is, or could be. If there's a chance of dust getting in the engine, a higher HTHS viscosity oil is likely to handle dust better that's small enough to pass the oil filter.

so, Rubia TIR 7400 or so will be excellent and won't break the bank.

Will look into Rubia TIR 7400, not familiar with it.

Have also considered Chevron Supreme 10w40 Semi Synth from Costco, have used it a few years ago. 20 litres for £30/35 from memory.

Another thought was Shell HX7.

The sump is only 3.3 litres so 20litres would last the best part of a year.

You may also consider Shell Rimula R6M or R6MS, although if I remember correctly it is advised in the datasheet not to use it in petrol engine... (why? Too much calcium? too much saps?)

My diesel seems to like it (more than HX7 and Elf 10W40), but it is full synth so more expensive (3,25€/L, 2x more expensive as Chevron or Total).

Rubia TIR looks nice too, less expensive.
