I'm actually in North Glendale California. I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma 4wd

I am doing an Autorx cycle at the moment and almost finished. I would like to get a T-Tec done this week.

Question, will the shop use a specific fluid if I bring it? I just want to make sure I'm getting stuff with the right spec

I just went to my local service shop. Unfortunately, due to the boss's rules, I could not bring my own trans fluid to use in their machine. Guy actually doing the work was pretty cool and showed me how to do it myself through the transmission cooler lines which fit what Auto-RX recommended.

I recommend DIY. Same difficulty as changing oil, easier than changing brake pads. The hardest part is finding the two cooler lines to/from the radiator. The rest is easy.

Perhaps start with getting a quote from the toyota dealer for a baseline.

If that's good enough just go with that.

Toyota dealer uses the dip stick hole only. So if they suction from there how do they get any sludge or debris off the screen? Autorx says that there will be stuff on the screen.

If they drop the pan and change the screen then only get the fluid from the pan.

Could they do their cheesy dip stick flush first to change all the fluid then drop the pan after to change the screen?

That will be expensive, double the price

You are at the mercy of the work ethic in your area. Only thing you can do is interview the shops and see what they use for fluids/filters... or if they allow bring your own fluid/filter/gasket....

Dealer pan drop, filter and pan gasket change, and refill is a good start. After that, a simple pan drain/refill a couple times will give you majority new fluid.

A pan drop, filter replacement, pan gasket replacement, refill should be performed prior to do a complete machine fluid exchange. Good luck finding a shop with a clue!

Why not look into craigslist mobile mechanics? Provide your own parts and they'll do the work for much less than a shop. You can google the cooler line flush method and print out some pictures if you think it would be helpful.
