Anything to check while I have oil pan off?

+1. It's not the oil pan size that matters (Use OEM), but the oil and maintenance schedule use use.

do you have a picture of this paper? sounds interesting. the only way i can see it getting in there is being dropped down the filler hole. if it came off the filter it could theoretically make it back to the oil pump, but i cant see it getting through it and then it would end up on the inside of the pickup tube. unless your oil pressure problems are from a hole in an oil gallery

what is the oil pressure and have you fixed this yet?
a larger sump WILL give you cooler temps for longer after startup, more stable temps, and deafinatly cooler peak temps at
-30 ambient.
but no reason to do it really, oil should be hot. this gen of civics seems to be good at not getting the oil hot (same cant be said for coolant). i wasnt aware they came in diesel though
