VW505.01 is a diesel oil chap so is not relevant to the FSi engine

VW504.00 has nothing to do with euro IV, the 504.00 is the petrol longlife oil spec so if she's on longlife servicing then they've used the correct oil.

1. VW 505.01 is always couple with VW 502.00 spec. Basically, if you have 1.8T or FSi or TFSI engine you can use VW 505.01 or VW 502.00. If you have TDI PD engine you can use ONLY 505.01.
2. VW 504.00 is not made because VW needed LL oil. Long Life OCI can be used ONLY under certain circumstances. VW 504.00/VW507.00 are designed bcs TDI engines needed to meet new EU emission standards and only way to achieve those standard was to use DPF. Since Sulfated ash and phosphorus in oil are biggest enemy of DPF, manufacturers had to start using Low-SAPS oils.

Dealer did told her that they use 504.00 in Euro IV and newer cars. Maybe she didn't understand right or they didn't bother to clarify further to her. So in your opinion 502 would be best suited for her driving conditions? I will tell her to switch on next OCI.

Whatever you use, VW 502.00 or VW 505.01 it is good. All VW 505.01 meet also VW 502.00 specification.
Strictly VW 502.00 will have higher SAPS content.
Do not overthink it.
In Croatia, I would use with no sweat Castrol TDS in that car.

I never understood why VAG engineers coupled vw 504/507

504 means full saps oil by definition...when on the other side 507 is defining low saps oil...?

No, VW 504.00 is gasoline spec, VW 507.00 is diesel spec.
Bottom line, both specs are same.
What they did is VW 504.00 replace all gasoline specs (VW500.00, VW 502.00, VW 503.00). VW 507.00 replaces all diesel specs (505.00, 505.01, 506.01). Since 504.00 is higher number then other gas specs, there you go. Same with 507. If you ask me, typical German thing where this is only understandable to them. Sometimes they remind me of people who design Microsoft Windows, where thing are logical only to them.

Eddy, just to clarify, you say 507 is back specified for all diesels, even PD? I thought they had some different requirements in comparison with normal engines?

It is back specified. Personally, I would use 5W40 VW 505.01 in PD engine, but VW say VW 507.00 can be used.
My brother used Repsol 5W30 VW 507.00 in Octavia 1.9 tdi 105hp, but I told him to move back to 5W40.
