I'm in the market to replace the bra on my car. I commute every day via hwy 20+ miles each way,and you have no idea how a car bra will protect your car's front end with all the stuff, debris, etc that gets kicked up all over your car. Current one is a Colgan (near $200). Are Covercraft and/or Le Bras any good? They're considerably cheaper ($60-$80 vs near $200). I'd think Covercraft would be a decent brand but have no idea about Le Bra.

I've had a front end bra for my first mustang,it messed up the paint on the front from the wind blowing as your driving down the highway.I dont care how good of bra you purchase, they all flex/move.Plus the debris that end up underneath the bra is not good either.

I didn't know they still sold these! I thought they got left in the 80's with the baby on board signs, Milli Vanilli tapes and suction cup Garfields.

Haha yeah I don'd use them for an accessory, but for functionality. While they do/can make scuff marks where they clasp on,my car's facia is pristine. All my friends with these cars have the entire facia chipped and dinged up. I guess it's a give and take (like with everything). Deal with the fastener scuffs or have th front end dinged up.

Haha I'm seeing these things all over the place around here. But you know, small towns are always stuck in time haha. Man I miss the 80s!!

I get that they save the paint from rock chips, etc. but instead you have to drive around with a bra on the front of the car. Rock chips you can see from 3 feet. The bra you can see from 300 feet. Pick your poison.

I haven't seen a car bra in ages. I think it's more common to get a clear protective plastic film applied. I don't know if that's much better, should look better at least. Probably more expensive though.

I bought a LeBra for my Accord since it was the cheapest at like $60. Five years later, it's a little faded since the car stays parked outside but otherwise tight fitting and tear-free. The material never looked that elegant or rich but hey, it lasts.

I recently bought a Colgan for my I35. It was almost $150 but the only brand available for my rather obscure car. I have to commend Colgan for a high quality product. The fit is perfect and the material feels rich and supple. It lets of an elegant shine, even when dirty.

Yeah I'd rather have rock chips than a bra on my car. The cost of replacing bras on them probably adds up to the cost of having it repainted anyways.

Plus since they only cover half the hood, the paint probably is a different color under the bra.

NKOTB tapes, Nintendo, Steven Segal films, Escort GTs, Bryan Adams tapes, Big hair bands, and Rubiks cubes....bras sucked. Clear bras now, or deal with the chips.

I think it's pointless and a waste of money. If you always have the bra on, then the paint around it fades. Do you think the retail value will be higher without chips in the paint? That would just be normal wear and tear. A small bottle of touch up paint would probably be a lot cheaper. Don't see anyone around here driving around with them anymore. And the ones who had them before look awful as the paint around the bra is faded but not the paint under the bra.

Can you recall a sighting of that?

I can remember saying, "Man! an upstate car with super rust!"
I can remember thinking, "WOAH! a garage kept car, no Sun damage!"
I cannot remember ever saying or thinking, "OMG, a half faded hood with bra lines on the bumper!"

I do! I remember the damage they cause, not just from the sun but trapping moisture under them and clouding the paint.

Yeah, I remember seeing it a few times. It was a long time ago though, probably at least 15-20 years ago.

We have a Le Bra for our 14 CRV. We only use it for our 800 mile trip each way to Canada each year. Just having it on for all that highway use does help. Matter of fact, an empty coke can hit the bra on the highway the other day. I imagine there would have been a gash if we didn't have it on. The bra also has a screen that covers up the exposed condensor under the car. Worth it to me.

Hmm. The chipped paint may not look too attractive after a number of years, but the bra looks unattractive from day 1.

To each his own!

In my experience the stick on plastic type (3M product I believe) works well. Cost in Canada is about $200. It's almost invisible. Comes in various widths. I have it put it on the paint (hood and mirrors) and any expensive plastic parts (eg BMW headlight units). I always use the same shop - which seems to get me a pricing advantage. It's the first place I stop after picking up a new car.

It appears to be good for the life of the car, at least I haven't had to replace one yet.

I think it looks better than either a bra or a hard plastic shield. And it works well.
