Can anti-seize be used instead of grease in a lower friction, high heat application? In this case I'm trying to keep a couple of meshing gears lubricated. They aren't running at high rpm or continuously but are subjected to temps in the 500 degree range (I'm guessing). When the gears do run the grease has a tendency to fling off.

Anti Seize isn't a lubricant.

Use synthetic wheel bearing grease in a tub, it is thicker than toothpaste, it should stay in place nicely.

I mean, anti-seize has a grease base but it is nickel or copper in suspension... I don't know tbo but I'd steer clear of it as a gear lube.

I use it on hot pneumatic sliding molds. We used it for decades and it works well. No grease would hold up.

I don't think any "conventional " or synthetic grease can deal with 500F. You could get a better temp check. 350F would be a max. Anti-sieze is a terrible lube and it would honestly have trouble dealing with that temp as a quasi-lube. Go with a graphite type product if temps are 500F which I suspect they are not.

how about a silicone grease, like the stuff used on brake caliper guides? No base oil dropping out etc... Maybe mix some MOS2 or graphite in aswell.

Or check out greases used in industrial ovens

I don't really know. Kano labs has some. Also, I just used a product called jet-lube mp-50 on my brake pad ears. It's a molybdenum paste they market for high temp conditions.
