What could this be a symptom of?

01' Echo, 188K miles, 4 cyl, 1500CC. If I accelerate gently or "normally" the car accelerates fairly decently, about the same as always. Today I basically floored it but all it did was rev and I got no acceleration. Is this normal or an issue?

Auto tranny slipping? That's not normal. Try it slowly going up a hill and see if the tranny slips.

Check the level of the transmission fluid.

Is it an auto or a standard trans? If its an auto I have seen low fluid level do that. I've also seen bad trans bands do it. Is it in all gears or just one?

If its a manual, its a warn clutch

It didn't do it going up hill. Does that have to do with fluid levels? I checked the fluid which was good. Auto tranny BTW.

Rolo if I remember correctly that has to be shifted into each gear for a couple seconds then checked in P or N.
