I ordered
two M1-211 filters, both with date code 050708H1 (May 7, 2008?)
Hastings LF483, date code 04261217505 (not sure, hopefully April 26, 2012)
private label Wix 51315 date code 280707 (July 28, 2007?)

Unfortunately, the "private label Wix" turned out to be a cheap Chinese piece of [censored] and definitely NOT made by Wix. I had originally expected a CQ Blue or Napa Gold or something similar. At least it was the proper Zetec setup with the springs. The paper media felt cheap and thin. It was also the most expensive filter out of the four ($1.39 for the Sub-Prime Choice, $1.34 for Hastings, and $1.11 for M1, but the jacked the M1 price up to over $3 after I bought them). Shipping was $9.15

Since I don't use cheap, poorly-made Chinese filters, I decided to cut it in the name of BITOG

All four filters

The cheapest, worst lowest quality paint used on a can to date. I've never seen the paint flake off like that on an oil filter before! Gotta love Chinese lead paint.

The dark line is due to cutting deep trying to get the can open

'Looks alone', very similar in appearance to an AAP DriveWorks filter (and other China made spin ons) of which many have been posted here. Efficiency generally vague to unknown.

Rock Auto's error they call it a Wix private label in the description which it obviously isn't.

Internal appearance and construction, doesn't look bad imo.

As for COO, another discussion.

Thanks for pics.

Keep an eye out for my filters as I cut them. I have bought a bunch of different filters made by all kinds of different companies. Just for everyone's viewing pleasure I will sacrifice my engine lol!

They didn't in 2007 when this filter was made. And this doesn't anything like an Afinia-made oil filter at all.

Here is a real Wix 51315

Here is an XP 51315XP aka Napa Paltinum

Other Wix filters (doesn't have to be the 51315) are similar in media construction, the way the base plate and ADBV looks, etc.

No way this Prime Choice was made by Wix/Affinia.

The base plate looks most like Fram's

We can't wait to see them

That Prime Choice filter doesn't look terrible.

Pleats are straight
Crimp looks solid

..that said, I certainly wouldn't want to run it the full 7,500 miles I usually run on my Fusion. It would probably be a good filter for a 3k 'clean-up' run with some MMO in the oil.

Media too thin... like 8x11 paper out of my laser printer. No thanks.

Thanks for the C&P!

Even copy paper would be better than this [censored]. More on par with toilet tissue.

Dang ... that media looks horrible and cheap. Again, why try to save a few bucks on weird brand name filters when you can go with something mainstream that is known quality. "Prime Choice" doesn't look to prime.

Tianjin-WIX was formed in 1988.
Wix opened a new plant in China in 1990.

Agree with the OP, said filter is not a Wix product. Even the Wix 'made fors' like Auto Extra and Part Master have an indication noting Affinia (owner of Wix) on the filter. As noted by the OP, said filter here has no indication of any kind indicating Affinia or Wix.

Yes Wix has a plant in in China, as does Fram and Mann&Hummel.

And a google search will indicate that the Wix filters, which seem to be fuel filters and perhaps air filters ( which Fram also makes there) made in China say Wix on them.

Prime Choice is a generic China made filter.

Cool, but this still doesn't look like something they made.
